Paris Does the Pen

Paris Does the Pen by Roxanne McDonald

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket Paris has full cavity search (?), a flora legium of fans, and first day (and night) blues as she serves her time.

Paris reportedly had to undergo what any incoming prisoner has to—the cavity search for contraband. She then was escorted to her cell amidst chants and the offer of gifts (say Celebrity Spider and TMZ). But the complaints over the conditions eclipse the notoriety Paris has enjoyed these last years.

She can’t sleep in what she purportedly described to friends by phone (a different kind of cell phone, ahem) as a “freezing” cell with no pillow and only three blankets as well as the nighttime noises and bright lights (the latter again not of the fame type the celebutante is used to). She doesn’t eat, either.

Instead, she is crying and still scared…though Beverly Hills psychiatrist Dr. Charles Sophy refused to discuss his patients after his two-hour visit to Paris, saying only how “Everything’s fine.”

Inmates (though prisoners are not allowed to receive gifts) have made origami butterflies from magazines, have sent roses, and have even told her she doesn’t “deserve” to be there.

Fans on the outside are expressing their condolences, and many are writing and suggesting others write with their support to the following address:

Century Regional Detention Facility
PARIS HILTON #9818783
11705 S. Alameda St.
Lynwood, Ca. 90262

And while people audition for “The Next Best Thing” by impersonating Paris, there is even a game to “help free Paris”, called “The Prison Life: Paris”–where you can make enough license plates for the dear to free her early.

I had a dream about Paris Hilton last night—though I am sure that suggests nothing more than my overblown ego, as I dream of Matt Perry, John Stamos, and Nic Cage, too—and in the dream she was funny and fun at the same time still selective about who she would deign to hang out with.

Hope this 23-day stint does no damage, whether Paris is really cool in person or not, but maybe offers her another look at the “real” world that she can take as a lesson in humanity versus celebrity.
