Fascination with Johnny Depp, combined with fascination for tats, makes for an interesting investigation into the body emblems of one of the top box office actors as well as the #7 featured celebrity on Vanishing Tattoo’s list of “World’s Hottest 101 Men with Tattoos”
On his right bicep is “Wino Forever”—changed from the original, third tattoo in the Depp series, “Winona Forever” once Depp and Ryder split
Also on his right bicep is the profile of a Native American chief in ceremonial headdress, which speaks to his part-Cherokee bloodline
Inside his right forearm is a symbol for THE BRAVE; and outside on the right forearm is a bird in flight with a banner reading “JACK”, for Johnny’s son
On Johnny’s right index finger are three little rectangles, which are often covered with a ring during filming (as are other tats covered with mud or makeup or what have you)—the rectangles representing nothing more than what Depp has defined as “permanent phone doodles”
On his left bicep is an inverted triangle in red with black shadowing
Also on left bicep is Johnny’s tribute tat: “BETTY SUE”, WHICH IS FOR HIS MOTHER, Betty Sue Palmer
In the crook between thumb and forefinger on his left hand is the number “3”
While there is an unidentified symbol on the inside of his right ankle, there is also on his lower right leg a skull and crossbones with the underlying caption, “DEATH IS CERTAIN”
On Johnny’s chest, over his heart, is “LILY-ROSE,” in tribute to his daughter
So there you have what they first might have meant, those emblematic art pieces, from crude to crafty, that as he once told reporter Bill Zehme (when Depp had a mere three tats) he was going to have pickled upon his death, to preserve for his kids.
That, or they could just go to one of the many, many Johnny Depp pictures sites.
