Why Celebrities Should Set an Example by Taking a Drug Class

Americans are obsessed with celebrities. Whether we like it or not celebrities are role models. As we have witnessed through the likes of Lindsay Lohan and Robert Downey, Jr. As well as countless others, celebrities often are not what we want our kids looking up to and trying to emulate.

Celebrities are just normal people suffering from the same issues we all deal with on a daily basis. The major difference is that many of them are also extremely wealthy. Lohan had admitted she may never have tried drugs if she hadn’t gotten famous. She claimed all of her friends were doing them and people were lining up to sell or give her different types of drugs.

In reality, that is a load of nonsense. All of us are exposed to drugs and alcohol. It is always a personal choice to whether or not we choose to use or abuse drugs . If celebrities are to be role models they need to keep themselves drug free. Taking a drug class not only will help them stay away from drugs, but will model positive behavior for their many adoring fans.

Good, positive role models are essential for both youth and adults. It would be nice if all celebrities were good role models. Taking a drug class and being drug-free is a good start.

Has Lindsay Lohan Forgotten Alcohol Awareness?

Lindsay Lohan is one of those stars who just can’t get out of the news. First she’s shoplifting, then she’s in jail, then she’s drinking, then she’s back on probation. And now it looks like Lindsay Lohan is drinking again. Boy if ever somebody needed alcohol awareness classes badly it’s Lindsay Lohan.

But maybe all celebrities should be taking an alcohol education class. Let’s just require them to take an 8 hour alcohol education awareness class before they are allowed in the screen actor’s guild. Crazy though that seems, don’t you think that having them learn the consequences of excessive alcohol and drug use would reduce the amount of abuse in Hollywood? Oh sure you couldn’t stop them all, but maybe a little alcohol awareness would have kept Robert Downey, Jr. from being such a train wreck. Or maybe a little drug education would have prevented the senseless death of River Phoenix?

Maybe I’m off my rocker, but how could it possibly hurt?
