Lenny Kravitz Named Sexiest Tattooed Man

Lenny Kravitz Named Sexiest Tattooed Man by Roxanne McDonald

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket You may lose your most valuable property through misfortune in various ways.  You may lose your house, your wife and other treasures.  But of your moko, you cannot be deprived except by death.  It will be your ornament and companion until your last day.  ~Netana Whakaari of Waimana

A stunning performer (one my ex used to try to get my musical idols in comparison with, as for him Lenny Kravitz was king), a stunning looker, and a man whose tats only enhance all of the above.  So say I; so say the writers and tat professionals at Vanishing Tattoo, where Lenny Kravitz is names the number one World’s Hottest Tattooed Men.

Babbling Incoherence No Excuse

Babbling Incoherence No Excuse by Roxanne McDonald

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket Lindsay Low-han high and driving. Again. But that’s not even the worst of it: she has a boat-load of excuses and justifications handy for just such an occasion, being a brat celebrity who plans on doing this again….

Does the three-strikes policy hold for celebrities? If so, Lins and Paris and whoever else is on their second law-breaking stint should seriously take heed. If not, why not?

And for those of us not up on who in the spoiled circles has been busted for doing what every other common citizen in the free world (or in the states with DUI/DWI laws) would be considered dangerous for doing even once, start watching the practices of the dressers at Madame Trousseau’s Wax Museum (reports TMZ): thus far, Paris and Lindsay are dressed in old-time prison stripes.

More universal than the California county jails’ orange, I suppose. [But cheekier, funnier.]

My God, I understand the disease that is addiction, and I have nothing really against Lindsay Lohan. [As Christa Miller’s “Scrubs” character, Jordan, would say, I nothing her. Don’t care either way for her acting or for what she does or doesn’t do…. EXCEPT when it comes to possible killing and or maiming.

Then there are the oddly unnecessarily related excuses: someone was chasing her? So did that make you guzzle enough booze to make you more fu—ed up than Tiffany on “Rock of Love” at that time, so that by the time you were pulled over you were off the breathalyzer scale?

Maybe I am confusing stories.

The Real Timberlake Tats

The Real Timberlake Tats by Roxanne McDonald

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket There is no “underground” community, no dark den of drunken sailors initiating themselves into manhood via cheap, ill-conceived exercises in bodily perforation; it’s just a group of people who delight in using their bodies as billboards. ~Joanne McCubrey; “Walking Art: Tattoos;” Mountain Democrat Weekend magazine

As if the successful singer’s body doesn’t get enough attention, Justin Timberlake’s tattoos are often discussed (as everything from prison inkings for parts he plays to the fake tats that have silly translations), interpreted, and fawned over.

Don’t let the latest pics on the net [including the one here] fool you, though: Justin has limited the number of tattoos he actually has for life: the rest are impermanent and for a film he was working on entitled Alpha Dog.

Displayed and explained by Vanishing Tattoo, on their “101 World’s Hottest Men with Tattoos” list, where Timberlake ranks #2 [after Lenny Kravitz], are Justin’s actual tats:

Hot Alyssa Milano and Her Less Than Hurtful Tats

Hot Alyssa Milano and Her Less Than Hurtful Tats by Roxanne McDonald

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket Beauty is skin deep. A tattoo goes all the way to the bone. ~Vince Hemingson

And so does the supreme spirit of Alyssa Milano go beyond the surface.

Alyssa Milano has commented that she would rather have tattoos all over her body than have one laser treatment done, and she should know the difference, having undergone two laser hair removal treatments that she found torturously painful.

More pleasant is the barely hurtful tattoo needle, one that brings more lasting and more significant results:

Alyssa Milano Still not Jaded, Still Charmed

Alyssa Milano Still not Jaded, Still Charmed by Roxanne McDonald

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket Maybe no less publicized, but seemingly still less affected than she could be.

I love Alyssa Milano as much as I love the cookies by the same name.

You might think that she is less plagued by the paparazzi, that as a more marginal Hollywood presence Milano has less crap conjured up. But the seasoned actress who has been performing since she was eight has her share of media coverage. So what if it is less scandalous these days?

I recall the biggest oooh news about the “Who’s the Boss?” baby and “Charmed” beauty was when she got breast augmentation and posed for a mag I can’t remember the name of now. At the time, while I was admittedly impressed, I was also more focused on what longevity the former child star had, considering how so many fall sadly to the wayside–of B movies or TV advertising.

Milano made it through the sub-popular phase and came out swinging, smacking, and body-slamming her way through the best action scenes in “Charmed,” for example.

But less exploitive are the news bytes disclosing Milano’s many fine performances and, further, her many fine humanitarian contributions to the planet.

Lindsay and Location of Tats–A Brief and Silly Study

Lindsay and Location of Tats—A Brief and Silly Study by Roxanne McDonald

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucketx [A] genuine tattoo…. tells a story. I like stories and tattoos, no matter how well done, and if they don’t tell a story that involves you emotionally, then they’re just there for decoration, then they’re not a valid tattoo. There has to be some emotional appeal or they’re not, to my way of thinking, a real tattoo. It tells people what you are and what you believe in, so there’s no mistakes. ~Leo, tattooist, 1993, quoted in Margo DeMello, Bodies of Inscription, 2000 [and again at The Quote Garden]

I have recently done research on this with a friend of mine who is studying Sexual Psychology in women. Tattoo’s over the breast area represent a woman coming out of a bad relationship or broken heart who is trying to mend or take back that part of herself. A tattoo on the ankle represents a “good girl” who wants to be “bad.” A tattoo on the lower back means “come fuck me.” A tattoo on the arm or forearm is usually done by lesbians and means “I am tough or no-nonsense.” A tattoo on the shoulder means they are a tease or resort to humor/buddy-buddy type interactions with the opposite sex. ~Gaiadamselfly at tattoo now

So much ink is spilled on Lindsay Lohan, so much more on the psychology and symbolism of tattoos in general and celebrity tattoos in particular, that I got interested in matching the former with the latter—looking at Lindsay’s choice of tattoos

According to the poster Gaiadamselfly at Tattoo Now, and using the interpretations as rendered by the popular Vanishing Tattoo, where Lindsay is ranked #73 on their list of “World’s Hottest 101 Women with Tattoos”…

Brit Tats

Brit Tats by R. McDonald

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket So often people misjudge tattoos and self expression and fail to realize that those folks who like themselves and wish to personalize their own bodies indeed this is not necessarily ego, but a very strong sense of self. ~ Lance Winslow

Britney Spears has dealt with the scrutiny of everything from her performance changes, her kissing Madonna, and her pre-rehab actions to her hair, her ass, and her post-pregnancy weight

But more suggestive of the singer, the person, is the kind of tattoos she has chosen to permanently let her body sing; so why not scrutinize to the nth degree?

As they are described and depicted on Vanishing Tattoo, where Britney is ranked the # 52 on their Worlds Hottest 101 Women with Tattoos list, Brit’s tats include the following: (read more…)

Johnny Depp Tattoos

Johnny Depp Tattoos by Roxanne McDonald

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket The world is divided into two kinds of people: those who have tattoos, and those who are afraid of people with tattoos. ~Speaker Unknown

Fascination with Johnny Depp, combined with fascination for tats, makes for an interesting investigation into the body emblems of one of the top box office actors as well as the #7 featured celebrity on Vanishing Tattoo’s list of “World’s Hottest 101 Men with Tattoos

On his right bicep is “Wino Forever”—changed from the original, third tattoo in the Depp series, “Winona Forever” once Depp and Ryder split

Also on his right bicep is the profile of a Native American chief in ceremonial headdress, which speaks to his part-Cherokee bloodline

The Heart of Nicole Richie

The Heart of Nicole Richie by Roxanne McDonald

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket I think fame is harder when people have something to hide, but I’m very comfortable, and have nothing to hide. ~Nicole Richie

I know I might get jabs and jeers for this, but I love Nicole Richie. I think she is the brains and the personality of the pair linked together in infamy; I like how she instigates minor trouble; and I find her self-effacing sense of humor a delight.

I also appreciate the heart behind the hearty and haughty façade, which includes some interesting actions and acknowledgments and associations…as follows.

Accolades/Awards

I went to the University of Arizona. I stopped because I went there for two years and I felt like I experienced college or whatever. I’m over it. I like Hollywood better. ~Nicole Richie

Six Degrees from Johnny Depp

Six Degrees from Johnny Depp by Roxanne McDonald

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket I’m shy, paranoid, whatever word you want to use. I hate fame. I’ve done everything I can to avoid it.~Johnny Depp

Watching “The Next Best Thing,” I was taken by how many Johnny Depp impersonators there have been—but how they only impersonate him as Captain Jack.

There is so much more to this actor, so much more in the way of roles that I think better showcase his talents.

Then again, there is also more to the man. I recently read an online newsletter that runs daily “Did you know…” trivia, and included a did you know that Johnny is co-owner of the Viper Room? I smirked: who wouldn’t know that? And thought back to when I first learned it—when Johnny was so devastated when River Phoenix died on the Viper Room premises.

But just being a fan does not automatically ensure a full knowledge base of the trivia of the star’s life. (Hell, I am still learning more about Nic Cage.) And in Johnny Depp’s case, learning of the details, of the choices he has made, for instance, one can speculate even further. For example, think of all the revolutionary changes and effects on the worlds of several others had Depp decided to take the parts he turned down: Where would Brangelina be, or would they even be…had he not turned down Mr. and Mrs. Smith?

And where would we be had he not taken on the roles that have made him a household heartthrob?

Here are a few more pieces of info, then, as I have culled them from around the web (at IMDB, Depp Online, Wiki; in Gina Vivanetto’s New York Times piece; and elsewhere):

Accolades/Awards

All the little films I’ve done that were perceived by Hollywood as these obscure, weird things, I always thought could appeal to a larger audience. I mean, box office is such a mystery to me that I can’t… you know… I have enough -trouble doing my own gig. ~Johnny Depp
